What is Rice Malt Syrup?
It is a sweetener made from fermented brown rice. During the cooking process the rice is broken down to leave a thick, sugary syrup. It is a blend of complex carbohydrates, maltose and glucose. Rice Malt Syrup is a slow-releasing sweetener so the impact on the liver is far less than pure refined sugar.
Yes, it still is a sweetener, and yes, it still should be consumed in moderation.
